A woman rides her bicycle up to the fence at the Rudower Chaussee and climbs over
At about 1.30 p.m. on 3 September 1961 a woman from Adlershof cycled up to the wire fence at the Rudower Chaussee control point and was over it before the guards could step in, leaving her bicycle, handbag and identity card behind.
According to the Stasi report of 3 September 1961, a woman from Berlin-Adlershof broke through the border at control point 71 (Rudower Chaussee) at about 1.30 p.m. She rode her bicycle right up to the wire fence and climbed over it before the guards could intervene.
She left the bicycle, a handbag and her GDR identity card behind. It was the only breakthrough into West Berlin that the report recorded for its reporting period.
