A doctor from Hohen Neuendorf cuts both fences and drives through
On 18 October 1961 a woman doctor who lived right at the border in Hohen Neuendorf cut through both barrier fences and the concertina wire and drove her car, with two other people, into West Berlin.
According to a Stasi report of 1 November 1961, on 18 October 1961 a doctor who lived in Hohen Neuendorf, immediately at the border, broke through into West Berlin with her car and two other people. She had cut both security fences and the S-shaped wire roll, probably, the Stasi thought, with help from the western side.
The report used the case to argue that many escapes were organised in advance with West Berliners, who damaged the barriers or waited on the other side.
