A 22-year-old is shot in the leg at Strelitzer Straße
A young man got almost to the foot of the Wall before the Strelitzer Straße watchtower spotted him; two aimed shots stopped him, one hitting his right leg.
On the evening of 21 March 1970 a 22-year-old man climbed over the inner wall in Strelitzer Straße. He crept along the front of the houses and then ran across the patrol road towards the border wall.
He had passed the vehicle barrier and was standing almost directly in front of the Wall when the soldiers in the watchtower at Strelitzer Straße saw him. They called out, and he ran along the Wall away from the tower.
Two aimed shots stopped him; one hit him in the right leg. He was taken to a police hospital and handed over to the State Security.
