Peuker's brother hidden in the tank of a converted car at Drewitz
In the mid-1970s Detlef Hubert Peuker, who had himself escaped in 1969, helped smuggle his brother out of the GDR through the Drewitz–Dreilinden crossing, hidden in the tank of a converted car.
After his own escape in 1969 Detlef Hubert Peuker lived in the West. According to the Zeitzeugenbüro, in the mid-1970s he helped smuggle his brother out of the GDR in the tank of a converted car; its timeline dates this to 1975 and names the Drewitz–Dreilinden checkpoint in Berlin. The escape succeeded.
When Peuker tried in 1975 to bring out his brother's girlfriend as well, the attempt was discovered at the Marienborn crossing. He was sentenced to four and a half years and ransomed by the Federal Republic in 1978 or 1979.
