Klaus N. escapes his pursuers but is arrested in Brunnenstraße
Fired on after climbing the rear fence at Schönholzer Straße, Klaus N. hid behind the tank traps, slipped back to East Berlin, and was arrested by an off-duty policeman who had watched.
On the evening of 7 September 1966 the sentry at Swinemünder Straße saw a man climbing the inner fence at Schönholzer Straße. The sentry's superior went after him and fired.
The fugitive, Klaus N., took cover behind the anti-tank barriers. The soldiers assumed he had been hit and moved in to arrest him, but he managed to get back over the inner wall into East Berlin without being seen.
A People's Police officer who had watched the attempt from his flat arrested Klaus N. in Brunnenstraße.
